Walking in Tandem

The rain came down in sheets, drenching the city streets. She cursed under her breath, hugging her bag to her chest.

“Forgot your umbrella?” a deep voice asked.

She turned to see a man holding out his—dark hair damp, a teasing smile playing on his lips.

“I—yeah,” she admitted.

He shifted closer, tilting the umbrella to cover them both. “Then looks like we’re walking together.”

Their shoulders brushed as they made their way down the street, raindrops drumming above them.

She glanced at him. “Do you always rescue strangers from the rain?”

His grin widened. “Only the ones I want to see again.”
